Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched missile attacks throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any impact is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was striking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck areas linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
