Recent Information Emerge Concerning the Discovery of Rob and Michele Singer Reiner's Remains
Fresh particulars have surfaced regarding the untimely demises of renowned film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.
The Alarm
According to a report referencing a person close to the family, a massage therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the residence. The practitioner then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives nearby.
When she went into the house, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then fled the house in anguish, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was also inside. A companion who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, emergency responders discovered Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, as well as the alleged use of a deadly weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody and is ineligible for bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source questioned several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the property, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
The source also refuted widely reported notions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."
This correction includes reports of reportedly "erratic" conduct by Nick at a party hosted by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they maintained that claims of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.
Investigation Timeline
According to law enforcement sources, the coroner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies suggested they had been deceased for a number of hours.
Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the scene. He was due to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would not be present until Wednesday or later.
