The Red Devils Poised to Secure Germany Forward Lea Schüller away from Bayern Munich
Manchester United are on the verge of completing the signing for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller on a permanent transfer away from the Frauen-Bundesliga champions.
A Major Acquisition for United
Schüller, who has half a year remaining on her deal, is known as a prolific goal-getter for both club and country. Having netted over 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. Her arrival is viewed as a major signing for the WSL side.
Departure from Bayern was expected after she was seen holding back emotions while applauding the German club’s supporters following a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month.
Reports in late December that the German women's top flight was losing one of its leading strikers. Per reports, the formalities for the transfer are now finalised.
Reliable Goalscoring to Strengthen the Attack
The 28-year-old’s arrival is expected to provide a significant uplift to United’s forward line. Schüller has been highly consistent with her finishing in the Bundesliga.
- Over seven straight seasons, up to and including the most recent campaign, she achieved at least a double-digit tally of league goals.
- She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with 16 goals.

Securing Schüller’s signature comes at a time when the club appear to be gathering momentum.
Recent on-pitch successes feature securing a place in the European knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a win in the Conti Cup quarter-finals.
In the transfer market, the mid-season window has seen additional activity:
- The signing of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal.
- The contract extension for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since arriving in 2023.
On the midfielder's new deal, a senior figure stated: “She has become a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and technical ability enables her and the team to control and dictate play from central areas.”
The new defender, having joined from a club in the American league, said: “You can feel how much they [United] have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and performing in the Champions League.”
