Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of large-scale manufacturing for an innovative domestically developed interceptor drone to strengthen its aerial protection systems. Three initial producers have begun production, with 11 more preparing to establish production lines, the defence ministry stated on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Proven in Battlefield Conditions

The drones utilize a domestically developed system known as “Octopus” engineered to intercept Shahed drones. This technology underwent testing in combat and demonstrated effective “at night, under jamming and at low altitudes,” officials confirmed. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing as many as 1,000 interceptors each day.

Latest Assault on Kyiv Characterized as Calculated

Volodymyr Zelenskyy described Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and brutal” following six people were killed and many others injured in a wave of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Moscow's military were firing hundreds of glide bombs daily, with the previous month's daily average being approximately 170, according to defence ministry data.

Ukrainian Strikes Target Moscow's Oil Facilities

Moscow's maritime terminal of the port city temporarily suspended oil exports this past Friday – equivalent to 2% of worldwide oil production – after a Ukrainian missile and drone attack.
